The focal point of this 184 acre park located along the Connecticut River is the 24 room medieval fortress, but the grounds are as interesting with stone-arch bridges, a vegetable cellar, a RR station, ponds, and a variety of trails that run through tunnels, over trestles, and along a 3 mile stretch of a former railroad. Dogs are permitted for no additional pet fees. Dogs are allowed at the picnic areas and on the hiking trails; they are not allowed in park buildings, or on decks, terraces or walkways leading to the castle. Dogs must be under their owner’s control at all times, and be leashed and cleaned up after.
