This 30 acre off lead area is fenced on 3 sides with a large pond for some fun doggy swim times on the 4th side. The park has open fields, wooded areas, and access to the Des Plaines River Trail. Dogs must be healthy, sociable, current on all vaccinations and license with tags on collar, and under their owner’s control at all times. Dogs must be leashed when not in designated off-lead areas. An annual or day permit is required. Self-pay stations can be found in the parking lot of each exercise area, and allows one day’s access to all four county dog parks. Annual permits can be obtained by phone, online, or in person at Libertyville or Lindenhurst. The park is open from 6:30 am until 6 pm – or until sunset, whichever is later. Maintenance takes place from 6:30 am until 11 am (April through October) on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays. A paved parking area for the Dog Exercise Area is separate from the rest of Independence Grove Forest Preserve. The entrance is located just outside of Independence Grove Forest Preserve on Milwaukee Avenue just north of Buckley Road.
