Niagara Falls State Park
This park surrounds Niagara Falls and is the oldest state park in the United States. It offers beautiful views of the falls and you can expect to get wet with some of the mist from the water if you walk up to the railings at the falls. Dogs on a six foot or less leash are allowed on the hiking and walking trails, but are not allowed on the trolley, inside buildings or on the attractions like the boat rides. Pets must be cleaned up after. From the park you can walk along the water and view Niagara Falls and the gorge. There are miles of trails at the park and some have steep stairs and rocks to climb over. Remember to stay away from the river as it has very strong currents. If all the hiking makes you work up an appetite, the park service has several outdoor snack stands in the park. Stop at the visitor’s center for trail details. The center is open daily from 8am to 10pm in the summer and daily from 8am to 6pm in the winter and closed Christmas and New Years Day. The park is open year round. To get there, take the Robert Moses Parkway into Niagara Falls.
