This unique tourist attraction began in 1942 as the Alaska Highway was being constructed. It was started by US Army GI Carl K Lindley of Danville, IL when he placed a signpost with the mileage to his hometown here. Many signs followed, and today there are tens of thousands of them.The Signpost Forest is located on the north side of the Alaska Highway just north of the center of town.
