This parks hosts an extensive Permisan Limestone fossil reef. The park is open year-round; visitor center hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and a bit longer in summer. Dogs on lead are allowed to go to the Sitting Bull Falls and the Last Chance Canyon. Dogs are not allowed on any of the other trails, but they are allowed on the trails in the neighboring Lincoln National Forest. This forest is very rugged, and pets must be watched very closely that they do not step on the plant called Letchigia Cactus. It may even go through tires and must be removed only by surgical means. Dogs are allowed at no additional fee at either of the campgrounds, and the campsites do not have hookups. Dogs may not be left unattended, they must be leashed, and cleaned up after. This park can also be accessed from the New Mexico side on Highway 137.
